This sets out the policies and practices of The Mind Talk, an online magazine published by Aum Limited (being “we”, or “us”) in relation to the handling of personal data (being information that relates to an identifiable individual (being “you” or “your”) or can be used to identify an individual).

A. STATEMENT OF POLICY

We respect personal data privacy. It is our policy to meet fully recognised standards of personal data privacy protection in complying with the applicable requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) of Hong Kong, and we strive to ensure compliance by our staff with the standards of security and confidentiality prescribed by law.

This privacy policy applies to the personal data we collect and generate from an individual who access our website. It sets out what personal data we collect, process, how we process it, who it might be transferred to, how we protect it, and rights under the applicable data protection laws. This policy does not apply to any websites controlled by third parties not affiliated with us that may be linked to website. The relevant privacy policies set out in the respective third party sites shall apply in those cases.

B. STATEMENT OF PRACTICE

  1. Kinds of Personal Data Collected

We collect personal data in four broad categories below:

a) Records of subscribers

which include the name and email address.

b) Personnel Records

which include job applicants and our employee’s personal information.

c) Event attendee records

which include the personal information provided by the attendees at our events such as conference, workshop, promotion activities and etc..

  1. Main purpose of Personal Data Collected

a) Records of subscribers

(i) to circulate our weekly newsletter, and (ii) if you have given your consent and have not subsequently opted out, the data may be processed for direct marketing purposes (see Section 3 below).

b) Personnel Records

are processed for the purposes of: (i) recruitment; and (ii) human resources management and employment related activities such as employment benefits, termination, performance appraisal and discipline.

c) Event attendee records

are processed for the purposes of: (i) organizing and managing the relevant events; and (ii) running the related competitions, prize drawings, and promotions.

  1. Direct Marketing

We use the name and email address provided by you to send direct marketing and promotional and information content relating to our products and services. 

At any time, if you do not wish to receive any promotional and direct marketing materials from us, you may send us an email (at [email protected]) to “unsubscribe” in any of the emails sent by us.

We never give your data to unauthorized third parties.

Your personal data may be supplied in order to comply with applicable laws and regulations or in order to comply with a court order, subpoena or other legal process, or to comply with a request by a government authority, law enforcement agency or similar body.

Please note that all data access requests should be made using the form specified by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data which is accessible from the following link “Data Access Request Form“.

When handling a data access or correction request, we will check the identity of the requestor to ensure that he/she is the person legally entitled to make the data access or correction request. We have the right to charge a fee for processing of any data access request.
