Neurodivergence
As the term suggests neurodiversity refers to the diverse variations in brain function and cognitive processes suggesting that these are natural differences rather than deficits. As this term gained popularity, it challenged the traditional view of ‘normal’ and gives way to celebrating every individual. It suggests that differences could be strengths, and it is important to celebrate everyone for the uniqueness they bring. Today there is a lot of attention on neurodivergence in adults which was possible through research. We hope to bring you lived experiences and interviews to further this information.
Neurodivergence includes a wide range of conditions which include Tourette’s syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. All these often get hidden behind labels rather than bringing awareness to everyone’s unique strengths and could create other mental health challenges.
By bringing expert articles on neurodivergence we strive to change the narrative within the society so that the focus could be directed on an individual’s strengths, challenges, and preferences rather than relying on diagnostic labels.
We continue to invite professionals to provide expert tips, evidence-based insightful articles and those who could share their narratives of lived experiences. Through this we aim to create a general acceptance of neurodivergence rather than labeling it as a mental health disorder.
As a magazine dedicated to promoting mental health – raising awareness, challenging stigma, and inspiring change in how the society views neurodivergence is an important aspect of our work. We hope to use our magazine as a tool to drive change and bring understanding and representation.
