Tell us what you do.

I am the founder of Signature Events, a Hong Kong–based wedding and event planning company. My work focuses on creating elegant, meaningful experiences — whether that’s weddings, corporate events, or celebrations. I balance creativity with structure, making sure every detail feels intentional while still leaving space for joy and spontaneity.

What led you to choose this career path?

It wasn’t a straight path — I actually didn’t “choose” weddings at first. Moving to Hong Kong as an expat during COVID reshaped my life. I started building Signature Events from scratch, with no network and no roadmap, but with a strong vision of creating something timeless and personal. I’ve always loved storytelling and aesthetics, and events gave me a way to turn those passions into real experiences for people.

What has been the most challenging time of your life?

Adjusting to a new country during COVID while trying to build my business was one of the hardest times. There were moments of isolation, cultural challenges, and uncertainty about whether I was making the right decision. But that period also gave me clarity — I realized Hong Kong was truly home, and I was determined to grow here.

Has there ever been a time when you felt like your business would fail, and how did you turn things around?

Yes, definitely. There were times when clients were scarce, vendors underestimated me, or when I felt invisible compared to bigger agencies. The turning point was when I stopped comparing myself and focused on building my own signature style. I leaned into storytelling, design, and genuine relationships, and that shift not only saved the business — it positioned me differently in the market.

Does work-life balance exist as an entrepreneur?

I believe it’s less about balance and more about rhythm. There are intense seasons where work takes over, and there are seasons where I reclaim space for myself. What helps me is being deliberate — adding self-care rituals, protecting my mornings and evenings, and remembering that my personal well-being fuels my creativity.

If there is one advice for women, what would it be?

Don’t shrink yourself to fit expectations. Many of us grew up with “good girl” conditioning, believing we had to please everyone. But your power lies in owning your vision unapologetically. Say no when you need to, and trust that your voice deserves space.

What is the one mindset hack you live by?

“Clarity comes from action.” Whenever I feel stuck, I remind myself that waiting for the perfect plan is a trap — movement, even small, creates clarity and momentum.
